On the Dalmatian ring, the lion’s mane turns the spots three-dimensional — a constant interplay between the warmth of the coat and the graphic black and white of the base. The large oval bezel frames this great head with all its full volumes, and the ring’s form holds them all together. The effect is unusual and intriguing: a subject always told as a symbol of strength and majesty, here carried on a ground that renews it completely.

The lion is strength that stands on its own — majesty as a fact of nature, as innate presence, as this animal has always been portrayed. On this jewel that narrative meets a ground carrying its own elegant impertinence: the black and white spots let the figure emerge, supporting it with an ease that makes it even stronger.

The animal’s body fills the entire field with a density that the decoration enhances — the black-and-white enamel enters into dialogue with the mass of the cameo, adding graphic contrast to the vigour already present in the intaglio.

In the crown of the bezel the colour tones express different atmospheres: with Pale Blue the softness of light rest returns — as the intaglio itself shows, everything eases, becomes gentler. Yellow makes everything immediate, absolute and lively, the lion stamps itself in full light. Black gives it tremendous grit, a presence at once decisive, defined and total. Sand recalls the earth, the lion’s natural landscape: a familiar tone that accompanies it with quiet measure, finding a perfect accord with the spotted base.
