It is like a painting inside the oval bezel — a full, rich scene, held within its frame. The figure of the lion is central, its volumes full, and Cupid sits above him light, playful, even a touch impudent. He plays an instrument, there is a melody — and the lion follows. He lets himself be charmed in the best possible way, because love knows how to move things in the right direction. They are going together, in that direction. In the Lumen ring, the bordeaux wraps them and gives the whole scene its glow.
Strength Overcome by Cupid — love conquers all. The smooth enamel coating the bronze carries this story with a density you can feel: the bordeaux is the colour of trust between these two creatures, between the god and the animal. An accord. A shared gesture, moving in the same direction. The oval ring holds the scene with full, gathered volumes — the heft of it on the hand, the sheen of the enamel, the shape that carries the tale. A melody you can feel even in the form.
Sky blue gives the intaglio room to breathe — as though they were moving in broad daylight, lightness and air around the volumes. Pearl is lunar: the reflections of moonlight on bordeaux, the cameo lit by a different glow, everything in motion. Porphyry is tone on tone — the cameo gathers into the density of the colour, intimate and full. Pale green with bordeaux is fresh and unexpected: luminous, open — like fruit on the branch, light making its way through a deep ground.
