The figure of Libra is slender and central — two open arms, two suspended circles, a balance that reads in every detail of the intaglio. On this ring the rounded spots find an unexpected harmony with the curves of the subject, as though the base and the figure were speaking to each other. The oval bezel holds a scene that is light and richly descriptive, where every line tells its story.
The spots all around are like the things in life — events, experiences, the people we meet and who dance around us. It is up to us to balance them: we face them, we play with them, we toss them and catch them again, we put them back in equilibrium. We shift our centre to make new discoveries, we come back, we shift again — a continuous balancing act, joyful and alive. That is what Libra on this jewel tells: the capacity to stay inside the movement.
The Dalmatian’s black and white converses with the balance — two chromatic poles that seek each other and find equilibrium, like its pans. The enamel that finishes the base gives the bronze a tactile depth that transforms the surface into living matter. And here the colours arrive: with their visual qualities they bring a further reading to this continuous becoming that on this jewel carries all the play of juggling.
The softer, more luminous tones — Pale Blue and Light Green — accent the lightness, and the cameo seems almost suspended on the body of the jewel. Black and Pearl, instead, define weights and counterweights and tie themselves to the darkest or lightest tones of the base: the play of equilibrium in form and in colour.
