The most unexpected subject in the entire collection, and one of the most beloved. The frog's connection to ancient art, to classicism or to cameo is less immediate and recognisable than other iconographies — which makes it all the more surprising. We loved it at once. Over the years we had admired the collections of enthusiasts who gathered sculptures and representations of this creature in infinite variety — and we often found ourselves in front of objects of astonishing quality and rarity. So, without hesitation, we decided to include it in the jewellery collection we were building. It was among the first cameos tested in all colours and mounted on the different models we were designing.
Then one day, after various attempts to create a round plexiglass ring, we finally found the «perfection» we were looking for — and she stepped straight into the bezel, ready to be worn in every possible combination.
We are deeply attached to this subject, which carries different and ancient meanings in every culture in the world. There is something remarkable about how certain figures exist beyond time and space, and travel from one person to the next across every boundary. The frog is one of the most powerful signs of transformation and change — often chosen to represent the capacity to adapt when navigating many variables, especially in human relationships, where the ability to remain oneself while adjusting to circumstances is decisive. Among our clients, one has chosen this motif as the emblem of their family — singular, ever-changing, and for that reason, always united.
A frog — gathered, compact, ready to leap — finds its natural stage in the round bezel of the AURA ring: the perfect circle, light circling the entire relief evenly. The 18kt gold-plated bronze intaglio catches it in a gathered pose: legs folded, body tensed, round eyes. The texture of the skin, the curve of the legs, every detail worked with care. But the ring body is plexiglass, and the frog — who knows a thing or two about leaping — carries lightness with all the irony of the coincidence.
The round bezel circles the subject evenly — light circles the relief evenly, the frog readable from every angle. The weight is light, the plexiglass shank fitting the finger naturally. The GTc signature is engraved on the bezel.
On black, every line of the relief lifts from the dark ground — the frog becoming almost abstract sculpture: azure is the world of water and sky, the frog's natural realm; white the most sculptural version, every line in full clarity; pearl wraps the composition in opalescent light, the frog suspended outside time; light green is its true territory — sap, leaf, freshly grown vegetation. On tortoiseshell, the veins of the plexiglass run differently in every piece, sometimes tight like the mottling of a real shell, sometimes opening into warm gradations — an organic material placing the frog in its element: azure draws it back to water; white brings it into focus; pearl suspends it; light green immerses it. On ivory, the warm pale ground lets each colour breathe at its lightest: azure opens; white brightens into near-sculpture; pearl wraps in intimacy; light green brings freshness. Every combination renews the expression.
Whoever wears it knows what this is about. A leap isn't fully planned — you trust it, you go, you arrive.
